Surgery and Hospital Stay
- Same day in and
out.
- Surgery under
general or spinal anesthesia.
- Takes about 1
hour.
- Total stay in
hospital about 4 hours, arrive 1 hour before surgery, and leave 2 hours
after.
After
the Procedure
- Average
experience: Minimal pain requiring a few tablets of Percocet or none in
first 2 days, hardly any thereafter.
- Return to normal
activity in 7 - 10 days, to regular work in 14 - 21 days.
- May resume very
heavy work or heavy exercise such as weight lifting after 3
weeks.
- May drive in 3-
5 days.
- May shower right
away.
- Dressings are
water-proof.
- No need for
dressing change, or for wound care.
- No stitches or
staples to pull out of skin.
- First week need
to rest and idle around, and not be too active.
- Post-op, need to
be seen in office only once at 1 week from the procedure.
- Occasionally,
slight bruising at top of scrotum, and slight sensitivity of testicle
for few days.
- Expect be able
to move about freely right away.
